Hey...

I have an Epson ES 1200C scanner, Ive owned since new. i used to work full time in graphics and it is a great scanner, but collecting dust right now unless i can figure out a better way to use it.

Does anybody know if there is a generic driver or scan software out there somewhere that will allow me to still use this scanner native in Panther OS X?

Epson stopped supporting this model in OS 8. I currently have it on a SCSI PCI card, but the scanner is such high quality, I'd like to purchase the SCSI to USB cable and keep using it.

Ideally, I'd like for it to show up and work thru Photoshop 7, Quark 6 or Illustrator 10. But if it can run on its own thru some scan program out there, that would be fine too.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much :)

Your scanner goes back nine years. The problem is that you can probably get a new scanner of equal resolution or better for less that it cost EPSON to update the software for the old one. You might install VueScan to see if you can get it to recognize your scanner. It is available here.

Hey Mister...

Thanks for the info. And, yes, I totally know what your saying about new tech and pricing.

i think the 1200c had cost about $800-bundled with Photoshop or something, if Im not mistaken, anyhow, I know it was a LOT, but yes, 8/9 years ago....it does work great and I can get the USB conversion cable for like 60 bucks. Firewire would be even better, but I havent seen a SCSI to firewire. I have already tried a couple $80 scanners and returned them, as I didnt care for a number of things with them. Prob have to spend at least $160-200 to equal the quality/specs.

Hopefully that software will work, I'll check it with the SCSI card before I buy that new cable.

Thanks again bro :)
