When trying to drag more than one file on/from my desktop, my Finder crashes.

Sometimes I can grab a few and drag them to where I want them, but the very next attempt causes another crash.

So far, only dragging one file at a time seems to work but gets tedious.

I'm running 10.3, system specs are in my sig, and I've tried fixing permissions.

I'm not trying to copy the files, just move them from the desktop to elsewhere on my internal HD.

I have no idea where to go from here.

Any ideas on a fix??

Thanks.

That's really strange. have you installed any third party apps that could be conflicting with Finder?

Oh, wait! Are you using norton by any chance?

The only third party app that I have running with the finder is Konfabulator and I'm only using the to-do widget.

I don't have Norton.

This seems like a really silly thing to have to reinstall the OS for, so I'm hoping it's not that.

Boot from your 10.3 Install Disc One. Run Disk Utility from the File menu. Repair the disk and repair permissions. I was having some toruble with the Finder crashing and relaunching for a while before I did those two things.

Doing a simple archive and install won't be much trouble. But be sure to backup your iTunes library xml file first. That may get toasted in the process.

I updated to 10.3.1 and I think that fixed it.

In any case, I can safely drag multiple files again without the Finder relaunching itself. :)
