I notice in the OS X Lion Server "Server" administration app that each user's "Public" folder has the Write -> Delete ACL permission checkbox checked.

This seems quite odd... what's the reason for this permission being granted?

Each Users Public folder has a folder inside it called Dropbox. This is designed for anyone to be able to put files into, without being able to see them.

In order for this to be possible, the ACL permissions are set this way.
