OS X Lion Server Mail Setup Help

Well, I got the web server up and running with my u-verse provided static IP no problem. I then go to try to get mail working and I am stumbling.

I have purchased a domain from go daddy. I have changed the following records.

A record: @ points to my static IP. This worked and my website was up almost immediately

MX record: priority 10, @, mail.mydomain.com

I left the other go daddy junk in there, maybe I need to remove it.

So what I am trying to do is have all mail sent to an email address at my domain get sent to OS X Lion server. I'd like this setup as IMAP. I have opened the IMAP port and forwarded it to my OS X Lion Server. I have also added mail.mydomain.com in server admin tools.

Am I missing something, how do you get OS X Lion IMAP mail to work with Go Daddy bought domains????

Additionally, where do I setup email addresses, is that in the server tool under user email address?? This thing is nuts!

I've been a mail admin for over 14 years (Notes and Exchange) and I thought that setting up a OSX mail server would be easy as all MAC apps are, but I was wrong. I had to google a few things but could never find a straight forward answer. From trial and error, this is what you will need to get mail up and running.

1. From your post you never enabled the default SMTP ports. On your router you need to enable the SMTP port on your router to pass through to your server. The standard port is 25, SSL port is 993
2. I then had to change the full name of my users to match the email address name. This was first name.lastname .
3. I also had to modify the Postfix config file in order to send out emails since I had to use authentication through my provider. Search for Postfix SASL.

Thank you for the reply. I just gave google apps a shot for email as we only have 3 employees and might be easier to manage for now.

I will continue to try and get iCal and file sharing setup.
