I've never encoutnered this before. But now all of a sudden whenver i try and attach a document to my emails, the mail program crashes. As soon as I open the doc to be attached the whole program craps out and crashes. This is the first time i've seen somethign consistently crash on OS X. Anyone have any idea what's going on or what to do?

Thanks

To Be More Specific

1) I begin composing an email
2) I click attach
3) I select a document
4) Click Open
5) Crash

Heres what the errors look like in the console.log:

2004-03-17 02:01:44.479 Console[521] Exception raised during posting of notification. Ignored. exception: *** NSRunStorage, _NSBlockNumberForIndex(): index (19326) beyond array bounds (19326)
2004-03-17 02:02:55.567 Console[521] Exception raised during posting of notification. Ignored. exception: *** NSRunStorage, _NSBlockNumberForIndex(): index (20890) beyond array bounds (20890)

I have a massive crash.log as well if anyone can make any sense of it.

THanks

I've had a similar problem once, but not with Mail. I got it to stop by resetting the pram. I don't know if that will work, but it's worth a try.

To reset the pram, restart while holding down the command, option, P and R keys. Wait until you hear the chime 3 times, and then release the keys. When the computer starts, try doing what you did before to get Mail to crash. That should help.

OSX mail program....bugs

I have had nothing but problems
with OSX mail program...accounts
disappearing...failure to work...
forgetting passwords...you name it.
Apple needs to provide an update
without requiring we pay $130 to go
do it. I have no problems with OSX 10.2.8
except the mail program.

More Crashing

Now the program crashes whenever an email has an attachment. What's next?

Archive and Install

You will need to do an Archive and Install.........thats what I had to do
and it settled down the e mail program.....its not as hard to do as I thought
it just takes a ton of time so do it at night. Go to Apple.com for instructions ;)

I had serious problems with Mail under 10.3.2. At a chance of 30 to 70, whenever I tried to launch Mail, the entire system crashed.

After updating to 10.3.3, everything works fine again (but it were some really annoying 3 month with having to re-start at least thrice a day).

More Problems

It seems the erratic nature has spread to my web browsers as well (explorer, netscape, but not safari). The crash as soon as a page with a pop up ad loads. Will an archive and install only reinstall syystem files? Will any of my other information be damaged or require backup?

Thanks for the help
