My new Mac arrived this week and it's working great, but I noticed that, while other people have pictures from Contacts in iMessage, my own profile picture is just a default silhouette (no picture). My picture is there in contacts (successfully identified as "me") and if I try playing with the "Change Picture" option in the iMessage menu, it lets me choose a picture, it just doesn't display it.

Anyone else have this problem and, if so, how did you solve it? :(

You have to assign it in the AIM/iChat part of iMessage (CMD + 1 to open the window) and then you'll see where you'll need to apply/change your picture.

So I open iMessage and do a Command + 1 but nothing happens. Do I do something wrong?

iMessage has two windows:

Command + 0 = main iMessage window, all your conversations
Command + 1 = AIM/iChat contact list.

If the command + 1 function doesn't work, you can try to do it through the menu:

Window > Buddies

This morning I woke up and started iMessages and BOOM, there it was. The picture was there.

Thanks!
