I am planning to buy a Macbook Air with 64 gb SSD. I wonder how much free disk space would I have if I perform a clean install without iWork, printer drivers, language files etc. There exists some data on the Internet for Lion and Snow Leopard. However, I need to know it for OS X ML.

Regards.

I know my MBA when new with Mountain Lion, iLife apps and iWork apps used about 20GB of space. So knock a few GB off if you don't use iLife and iWork.

Printer drivers are now installed when needed. Although it will install all the drivers for a single company when you set up a printer, so there's no need to worry about printer drivers.

As for language files, if you trim those out, you're likely to break OS X updates.

While some people can live in 64GB, it tends to be a tight fit. Also remember you need somewhere between 10% and 20% free disk space on the system disk for OS X to function properly. The smaller the disk, the higher the percentage of free space that tends to be needed.

I got the computer then I made a clean install of OS X ML. After this process the free space is 48.4 out of 59.9 gigs. This is much more that I expected.

If you get rid of all the Garageband audio samples, that'll make a serious difference.
/Library/Application Support/Garageband/

It looks like there is no folder like that since I made a clean install which does not include iLife. Thank you.

If you getting a Mac with such low numbers think about moving for iTunes Library to an External drive (network drive or Extreme/Capsule shared port) using the method in the article How to move an iTunes Library to an external Drive. This will save a lot of space on your internal drive.
