OS X Photos Location Access?

Hello, I was just wondering why the photos app on OS X would like to access my location, there doesn't seem to be a 'Nearby' feature when you click into the search bar, like in iOS. Thank you!

I think it's for geo-tagging pics, just like on the iPhone.
