Ok, so here's my issue. I'm trying to install Mac OS X Server 10.4 on an old G4 to test and play around with as I go thru a training DVD on the software.

I put the disc in, open it and click the Install icon. Then of course it prompts me to restart. I do, but it comes up with an error message ending in 'panic: We are hanging here...'

My computer specs are as follows:

450 MHz PowerPC G4
1GB SDRAM
20 Gb harddrive
Hitachi DVD-ROM GD-3000
Built-in Firewire

Anything I'm missing here?? I have no idea and I can't find any forums with this exact problem anywhere on the Net.

Any help is appreciated.

My guess is that it was outdated firmware. But for the sake of others could you post what the problem was.
