OS X Server Better on 2012 or 2014 Mac Mini?

Ok, I was waiting for this announcement, but it looks like Apple jumped the shark, so .... if I wanted to run OS X Server for iTunes Server, TM backup (to an external drive) and a VM, would it be better to have the 2012 (2.3 or 2.6GHz) Quad-Core with Intel 4000 iGPU or the 2014 (2.6GHz) Dual-Core with Iris Pro?

For what you describe (particularly the VM) I would think you'd be better off with the 2012 quad core. It doesn't sound like graphics performance is that important to you, and the HD4000 is perfectly adequate for light gaming & video work.

If you run a VM and also want other server tasks to run concurrently then I think there is a real advantage to having a quad-core and maxing out the RAM (16GB).
