OS X Server Remote Connection

Hi all, i've just purchased a Mac Mini Server which i would like to use for file sharing etc with family and friends. I have purchased a domain name and edited the nameservers to point to a dyndns account i've setup which will keep my domain name pointing to the correct IP address as i don't have a static IP. I'm unsure how to setup the Server to allow this remote access? I see there's DNS & VPN Services i can turn on and configure but because i'm failing to connect i'm assuming i'm doing it wrong. Can anyone give me some advice please where i possibly could be going wrong?

I've got my Router Setup to update my DynDNS account as the IP address changes with its inbuilt software which is handy and I've opened up all the appropriate ports for Server access and have it pointing to the IP address of my server that I setup in the router.

Maybe your ports are not open on the Mac.
Enter the next terminal command to see if your ports are open on the Mac.

sudo lsof -i -P |grep LISTEN

I'm still not setup for remote access, I've logged into Dyn and see the Nameservers and IP addresses they have allocated for my Domain Name, I'm assuming i have to let OS X Mountain Lion Server know these settings somewhere? If so can someone guide me through this process.

Ok i've input the IP addresses i was given by Dyn that should forward to my server when i type in my URL but instead of forwarding to my Server it's taking me to my router login page. What have i done wrong here? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to set your router up to port map to the specific local IP of your server. The Apple VPN service requires ports 500,1701,4500 are mapped. This is very easy if you have an Apple Airport device as the server can be set to control this, but is usually not too difficult to do on another type of router.
