hi guys...i have never used os9 since making the switch 3 years ago. Do i really need this on my powerbook G4? How much memory is it using, and if we all agree i can uninstall it, how do i go about doing so? I don't want to mess up my machine, but if it is a good amount of memory, i could really use the space. Can you all advise?

thanks
ps- hope this i was a good place to ask this question.

If you've never used it then it won't be using any of your RAM. I don't know how much hard drive space it'll take up because I don't have it installed on either of my Macs, and haven't for quite some time. To remove it, follow this guide. :)

If you don't use it, you don't really need it. Heck, I don't use it and I've been using a Mac since 1991. I think I have it on my machine for nostalgia factor, but that is a lame reason. But like the Jew said, it doesn't take any RAM if you don't use it.

thanks guys...before i do the deed, can any of you think of any reason i should NOT remove the os9???

Yah, I would make sure all the programs you use are os x programs and classic is never opened, then you should be ok to remove it.

I dont think you should worry too much. Just remove it if you dont want it. You can always reinstall it from the tiger cd.
