After upgrading to OSX 10.10.3 (MBPro/15"/2.2GHZ i7/8GB), the following problems started occurring and I have not been able to fix them, so any corrective action advice will be very welcome:

1. Mail -- new mail and other mail-related sounds have disappeared (have quit/relaunched Mail and have also rebooted multiple times, to no avail).

2. BusyCal -- pop-up alarm windows have stopped working (have reset prefs, have re-installed the app, have quit/relaunched multiple times, and have rebooted multiple times, all to no avail).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Try repairing permissions in Disk Utility and reboot.

OSX 10.10.3 Woes....

Try repairing permissions in Disk Utility and reboot.
Make sure Do Not Disturb is off
.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, after implementing the above, both problems still remain as described in my original post....

Ditto on this... Same here and checking the above and turning it off worked.

Which issue are you referring to? No sound in Mail or no pop-ups in BusyCal?
Or both?

Try creating a new user account, reboot and login to the new user account. Do the issues still happen in the new user account?

Another thing to try is reboot into safe mode (hold down shift-key while booting) and see if the issues still happens.

Try WOL or Wake On Network/WiFi. It simply doesn't work. Which means Back to Mac will not work. Ridiculous.

OSX 10.10.3 Woes....

Just wanted to let everyone know that I discovered that this is an apparent bug that has affected many users, and the related thread can be found here:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6993335

The problem affects users who have "Do Not Disturb" in Notifications turned "ON". For those users, after upgrading to OSX 10.10.3, all Mail sounds stop working. The solution is to turn "Do Not Disturb" in Notifications "OFF", and all Mail sounds should return.
