OSX 10.11.6 Combo Update

No, that applies just to the direct links to update packages which are not intended for direct installation. To get to 10.11 from 10.10, you must use the App Store installer; it's not possible to just run an update.

The OP clearly said "for OSX updates" - and he never mentioned the 'App Store' in the original post.

I always use the combo install for OSX updates, especially if upgrading multiple machines. You download just this one file, has everything you need, less chance of problems when updating.

One of my Macs wouldn't Restart, clicked on Restart and also waited it out with the counter timer and still it wouldn't restart to complete installation of update. I downloaded OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 Combo Update, but can't find the sha1

What's the sha1 checksum for OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 Combo Update? Doesn't Apple usually list it?

I read that, but I was looking if this is ALSO applicable to full OSX upgrade.

No harm to ask, right?
