Osx 10.4.9 Issue

after installing 10.4.9 my sleep function [opt/cmd/eject] doesn't work.
i've used this for years and now for the past 24 hrs this function won't put my macbook to sleep.

i ran and corrected permissions as always.

anyone else have this issue?

How about force it to sleep by selecting Sleep option from menu or just close the laptop when you want it to sleep.

Just press the power button and then hit the "S" key, that's what I always do to force it to sleep, or otherwise, I just simply close the lid.

As for the opt/cmd/eject shortcut, it still works on my MacBook with 10.4.9, you just have to hold down the eject button for about a second now instead of just tapping it.

^as much as that would be easier to some people, it's not neccessarily easier for all. Perhaps he wants to keep the lid open and sleep it, but doesnt feel like using the trackpad to click the menus?

Besides, It's not the issue of sleeping to begin with, he simply wants to know if others have lost the functionality. I personally haven't tried that key shortcut (I do often, but I'm on my PowerBook running 10.3.9 right now, so it wouldn't matter.)

i use my macbook as a desktop 95% so it is always in clamshell mode.

it DOES sleep if i go the the apple menu. just the normal way i put it to sleep doesn't work.

so, yes,supercompu2, i want to know if it has affected others. that way i know for sure i didn't do anything to it to mess it up.

I thought I had the same issue, but in fact 10.4.9 has introduced a delay on the eject button meaning you have to hold it down for a second before it registers to prevent accidental ejection of disks. Unfortunately, this has transfered over to the shortcuts which use the escape key too.

Holding the keys rather than just pressing is just something we'll have to get used to.

oh, and thanx lancetx that does work. you have to hold it down about as long as if you're powering it off with the power button. takes almost forever.

i'm glad to know it is nothing i did. i had been sitting there STABBING the button repeatedly, thinking maybe somehow it might be the button connection or something.

Still works for me. I think taking a little longer due to the delay introduced into the eject.

Random reboot while watching youtube, and a kernel panic earlier today using bluetooth dial up

I have noticed NO change after installing 10.4.9 ... if anything my boot time is slower.

I hope this isn't an indication of what Leopard will do to my MBP. Maybe ill have to upgrade to 2Gb RAM then save to get Leopard some time later.

Got it figured out. Just had to get it reinstalled. And Disk Utility found a host of things to repair -_-;

Mine does try to go to sleep when holding the option-cmd-eject for a couple of seconds, but then immediately wakes up again. Annoying since it's one of my most used shortcuts on my Powermac at work...

Ever since I upgraded, several things have stopped working on my 12" Powerbook. The screen brightness function buttons and the speaker up/down/mute buttons do nothing when pressed. Pushing the power button does nothing when on. And when I try to open "About This Mac" under the Apple window, the pop-up opens and then moves immediately off-screen to the left. I know there are work-arounds for the first two problems, but I'm disappointed in this update.

I'm sure this is a stupid question but have you tried holiding down the shortcut key combo's for about half a second?? I found this seems to be behavior for this shortcut combo after updating to 10.4.9 for me.

As I understand Apple updated the behavior of the keyboard and mouse with 10.4.9. I just assumed this was by design.
