Hi, I'm new to OSX and just ordered a 2.2ghz 2011 15" MBP and jumped on the 128gb SSD upgrade as it was a steal.

As the overall storage is low and most of my favourite games are available in OSX I'm trying to see how I can hold off dual-booting for just 1 or 2 games.

I have PC Disks for things like Dragon Age Origins, Freelancer, Crysis, CoD:BlackOps and I'm hoping I can play them in OSX and not require to buy them a second time.

I've read there are things like Wineskin, Cider and Crossover - can anyone advise whether these will play most of those games sufficiently (i understand boot camp probably increases performance, but I'll take convenience over a few fps)? I'd like to be able to go through DAO properly, my previous ULV doesn't handle it well and I'd prefer to find out about what the options are.

Thanks in advance

for Windows games in OSX your best bet is to become a member over at portingteam.com... hobby porters make wrappers using Wineskin, Crossover, and Cider for all kindsa games. YOu can just find one that someone else has already gotten working and download the wrapper, install your copy of the game inside it and play.

Know that you'll always take a minor to major hit in performance and graphical capabilities, but most games that people have gotten to work are at least playable.

DA:O works good... Cider was even used for the official Mac version.... I know I've seen wrappers there as well for Crysis and Black Ops.

"Convenience over a few fps.?"

No. You will get way more than a "few fps". You will get more than double the performance by running in native windows.

So using a crossover is about the same as running most native Mac ports.
