OSX Beta Seed Update?

Hey ;

I have the OS X Yosemite Beta Seed and ı wonder that is it possible to update it somehow ? Because I have seen the Beta 7 but can't upgrade to it. It doesn't show in App Store for me to update. Is it possible to update it to new versions or it was just one time update to see what is it all about and wait for the GM ?

If it is possible , how can I do that ?

You have either Beta 1 or Beta 2. There is no "Beta 7". What Apple released yesterday is called Developer Preview 7, not "Beta 7". As far as I know, betas are offered to developers, along with Developer Previews, but Developer Previews aren't offered to people included in the beta programme.

No, you have to wait for the next beta.

As mentioned in a couple of threads on this forum, so far developer previews (DPs) have been released in a two-week cycle and the betas have been released in a monthly cycle.

I blame the many people out there (especially on YouTube) calling the developer previews betas.

They're not betas! They're dev versions! Even if Apple decide to name it Developer Preview beta x it's still not an official Beta! I always knew someone would get confused from this..

Apple have released two official betas. There won't be many updates as they want to pass things through the devs to make sure nothing gets too broken. As public beta testers, we're the very last line of testing. What we say is likely closest to what will be released. The Developer Previews are reserved for OSX developers and are more like testing versions.

If you're on beta 2, you're fully up to date and as OSX usually releases around October I honestly probably wouldn't expect another beta update...or one final one at the most. Which will be beta 3, not golden master. Again, that's something unique to developers.

Well in all fairness, the iOS "developer previews" are called Betas. They only go to developers as well, but they are only ever called Betas. So it really does make it confusing for those that fully don't pay attention. I've made the mistake too (Up until this year) and have called them betas instead of developer previews as well. Now that there is a difference I have corrected it, but in the past it really didn't make much sense to not call them betas.
