OSX Tiger Boot Screen problem

I recently purchased an powermac g4 "Digital Audio". Everything is running great but at startup the monitor is blank until OSX is already loaded. This doesn't really harm anything but really annoying.

I can tell when the monitor is getting a signal but it stays blank until the dock is ready to come up.

Has anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas?

make sure you are not running any programs like Chime stopper, it could impede the start up process with Tiger

I am not running any applications at startup.
