I'm a switcher who needs help. I know some of the regulars in here must get tired of guys like me, but despite my search in the help files and Knowledge Base, here are a few things I need help with:
- The used iMac FP I just got came loaded with OS X 10.1.5. I
understand that there is a newer version available -
10.2.4 - or something like that. I tried to find out
if I could just download an update, but got really
confused. I did download the update, tried to install
it, but was told that I needed an earlier version of
10.2, but I could not find an earlier version of 10.2
to download. (A file sharing application I
downloaded - Acquisition - will not work with versions
of OS X older than 10.2).
- Trouble with my Yahoo account. When I compose an email,
I do so with text that I can barely read. My whole personalized
Yahoo page, as well as all the associated pages, is
really washed out, as if the brightness and/or
contrast settings for the display are up way high (they're not).
It does not matter so much for other elements of these
pages, but when composing or reading the body of yahoo
mail, the text is so incredibly faded out I can barely read it.
- IE for Mac 5 is acting a little strange compared to my IE 6.0 for windows. Besides the Yahoo issue above, which I suspect is an IE issue, there is a another forum I participate in which uses a WYSIWYG editor for posting, but IE for Mac will not work with this, and I have to use the forum's older UBB editor. Also, the text for some of the posts I read does not wrap the same way as the others in a given thread, requiring me to use my horizontal scroll bar back and forth to view the whole message. Oddly enough, this only seems to happen for the posts of a single member of the forum. Anyway solution for this?
- Would Safari be a better bet, perhaps resolving the above issues, and if so, would it be better to wait until the final release comes out rather than downloading the beta?
- I can't seem to set Adobe Acrobat Reader as my default PDF reader. When I open a PDF document, another program, I think it's called Preview, opens the document, and I prefer Adobe Acrobat Reader.
I know that's a lot right there, and I hope I have not broken any forum rules buy clumping a bunch of questions under one thread title. Forgive a newbie.
