Sorry to have to ask this, I realize I am the epitome of Mac newbie. I just got a new Powerbook (love it, by the way) and it appears to have shipped with OS 10.2.3. I don't know a whole lot about OS X but I do know that further upgrades exist (10.2.7?) and I heard somewhere that updates within 10.2 are free. Is there any site I can go to or anything I have to do to take advantage of the newer version of 10.2? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hook up to the interent, open system Preferences, then open Update Check. Then check for updates. You can only get 10.2.6 since 10.2.7 is just a 64-bit optimized vsrion for the G5's.

For beginners, run Software Update as previously mentioned.

I am used to going straight to this address and downloading the software straight off Apple's website. Plus I get to save the installer in case I ever need it again instead of redownloading it again.

BTW: A 100MB Mac OS X 10.2.6 Combo Update is an overnighter for dial-up users, such as myself.
