Other People's Photo Appearing in Your iCloud Photo Library?

I just discovered some photos in my iCloud Photo library today. These photos were taken yesterday and I am certain that I have never taken these photos nor anyone sent me these photos. I wonder how did the photos came to my library? I could have never taken these photos because I have even seen these events. However, I feel that these photos were taken by people in my area judging from the background.

Could iCloud mix up and sent other people's photos to my library, if that is the case it is very scary...

Do you have a similar experience of seeing photos you could not have taken or being sent?

That has never happened to me. Are you sure you haven't received any pictures from maybe whatsapp? It auto downloads media to your library unless you turn that feature off. There must be something else going on here. Are those pictures also in an album?

As others have mentioned, might be some other app uploading pics (eg. Facebook, WhatsApp, et. al.).

Did you sign-out of iCloud on the old device before getting rid of it? If not, or just to be safe, change the password on your Apple ID: that should stop the old device from accessing your iCloud.

Or simply a family member is using the same account as you and the appropriate sharing settings haven't been disabled. iCloud accounts are not meant to be shared if you are doing this. Make sure you go to iCloud.com and manage your devices associated with your account so you can see exactly what's going on.
