other sound recorders besides wiretap pro?

Audio Hijack (and Pro) do about the same thing as Wiretap, but IMO much better.
Are you trying to record sounds played by Mac programs, or sound that you've piped into the Mac from the outside? Maybe you want a different class of tool...
