Is it affecting anything?

It’s not uncommon and will give the space back as needed.

Yes on iPad Pro 10.5 have same issue and down to less than 5gb storage left, after update it was 5.64 gb left. Hopefully it doesn’t affect anything...

it must be a bug on how the available space is shown, i just plugged in my iPhone for the first time since updating and my mac says i have 24 GB available (iPhone itself says 3 GB)

edit:

i wonder what happens if you try to get over what iOS claims is available. Does it give you the warning that you ran out of space?

It is a bug. The phone says I have 3GB available, but my computer says it is 64GB free. Unfortunately, the phone thinks it's full. I can delete some stuff for now, until they fix this one, but it's very annoying. Seems like a mission critical bug.

So mine went down to like 3GB available last night, now at 6GB available. I think it's a bug and will be corrected. Believe this happened a few years ago and was fixed by beta 3.
The way Apple does storage with APFS is weird also. That 3-6GB on a 64GB device is probably the true value left. I've had apps tell me I have only 3-4 GB left but Apple says 30GB. It's the way they have there stuff work. Like even on Mac, the about my Mac will say one value but some apps like Forklift &/or Daisydisk will say another. Some apps corrected this to show what About My Mac was showing but it seems Big Sur messed it up. So like on Mac, About My Mac shows I have 436GB left available but both Forklift & Daisydisk show 404GB left available. But it will be fixed....

Same things here. Having the 256gb model has been overkill but this was one time that it really was pretty nice lol

I was about to post the same thread. 28 GB extra on Other on my iPad Pro 2018 11''
I presume there's a lot of uncleared caches and diagnostic data that will be cleaned up with the next update in 2 - 3 weeks.

Got the bug myself. Did a backup in iCloud, went to Setting > General > Restore > Erase all contents and settings. In the setup i installed it with my backup and i haven't got the bug back

Exact same thing here. I went from my IPhone 8+ with 256gb and I had 39gb used, about 7gb was other storage no big deal. I decided to go with an iPhone 12 Pro Max 128gb. I now have 60gb used of which 26gb is other storage!!! I have done 3 clean installs from different iCloud backups and no change. This is driving me crazy!
Also I do not explain why I now see some gb with photos and messages as it is normally all stored on iCloud (I have 2.2tb). I did not have this on my 8+. I called Apple but they were useless...simply telling me that it is normal and that it may take a few days for things to get back to normal...
See the pics...I had 39gb on my 8+ as I activated the unused app option. Anyone else? Any clue?
