Ouch! 2-4 week wait Apple.com

do you think this is a hint to when apple and at&t stores will get the next shipments, or is that different?

That information will be updated nightly. I take that to mean after the west coast stores have closed for the day.
If you go to the page, under the first step of "How to get your iPhone", it says to check nightly at 9PM. Although, because it is the launch night of the iPhone, i'm guessing the information there is wrong
I went ahead and ordered mine online. I figure hopefully it will ship faster than that. Btw did anyone else see the bluetooth headset had the same ship date.

I purchased the iPhone off apple.com and i think it went through. I am just hoping that i don't get a email saying that there out of stock and my order is on hold. Do you think they would allow you to buy the phone and then say there out of stock?

Dam man I waited from 6 30 am .. It was so worth it. Thing is amazing I'm on it right now.. Trust me the edge isnt slow at all
Yeah, if the computers can't keep up. Remember that orders take about fifteen minutes or so to be completely in the system, so I'd check it later on tonight.

I'm abroad and missed the fun at the stores today--probably for the best.
Sure it sucks to wait two - four weeks (which I think it will be the full month.)
But, it's not the end of the world. Ironically, while I normally buy Apple products because I _want_ them, I am in desperate need of a new cell phone, so the wait kinda stinks.

My spouse, God bless her, picked two iPhones up less than an hour ago...
Naah, bet the under. Remember that message when you first got into apple.com/store last night: "Limited number available online". Read: there is a finite number - a number they have already figured into their distribution plans. And the old "2 to 4" weeks is just a blanket statement to prevent consumers from being disappointed if it doesn't ship immediately. I fully expect to get the "Item Shipped" email from Apple next week, with standard delivery about 7/12.
That's my guess... 7/12.
