My MBP shipped the 31st, if I had known about the 2.6 and the 200g 7200 I would have upgraded it. Man that hurts.

You might get the new version. If not just return the unopened box and get a refund, then buy the new one.
Or if you have a store near by see if they exchange it.

I had ordered the 160G 7200rpm drive and the 2.4 so not only do they not sell the drive I ordered anymore, the one I got is now significantly cheaper. Boo

I think you'll be happy (upgraded) when it arrives. Just a gut feeling. If not, unopened (IMPORTANT) exchange on-line or at store.

I'm mostly just mad that the 160G 7200 rpm cost the same as the 200G 7200 rpm that is what bums me out the most

My invoice is stating that its a 160G 7200rpm. Boo, first macbook had yellow screen and this is the the replacement :(

I'm in the same boat. I ordered a MacBook online yesterday, if I want to return it there is a £60 fee :(

Should Apple reduce its price on any shipped product within 10 calendar days of
shipment, you may contact Apple Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775 to request a
refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the
current selling price. To receive the refund or credit you must contact Apple
within 14 business days of shipment.

I'm calling them at lunch b/c the price i paid for 160 7200rpm drive is now a 200g 7200rpm. The power bump isn't really my issues, its the harddrive.

And it gets better, for 2 days mine said it was in transit from China. It just now updated with in Transit so despite mine being "released" on Monday for my replacement. It won't get here till monday and it was supposedly shipped 2 day.

Oh I'm aware, I've had a horrible experience with them so far. The first one I ordered the rep put in the wrong harddrive but couldn't stop the order b/c it shipped the same day. She told me I could order the correct one on my credit card and then return the first one no problem. Turns out she was lying it wasn't returnable. So I had to basically beg to have the first one that was ordered with wrong hardrive (I asked for the most expensive harddrive but she put in the biggest which was at the time the 4200rpm and not the most expensive) so I finally got the 1st one credited on my card. The second one arrived and had screen defects, that one went back on Monday and this is number 3, which was suppposed to ship as soon as the carrier verified the the 2nd in the mail. So that was Monday and the new one was "shipping" from china since the 30th, but didn't actually ship until today.

Im in the UK & as luck would have it or not, have just recieved my MBP today with upgraded 7200 rpm disk, first thing I see in safari is "New MBP Options" great! Don't care about the speed bump as like others say it costs extra, its the fact that you can get the 200gb 7200rpm drive for the same price I payed thats annoying me.

Have any of you had any luck with apple reps? I don't want much, like £30-50, even store credit would do, just something to remove feeling ive been ripped off.

I'm pretty sure that Apple won't let you return or exchange custom-configured systems. There has to be something obviously wrong with it for them to take it back. :(

Actually that was their only suggestion. To send back the one coming Monday to have the new one sent out. I'm going to see if my monitor on this one is non-yellowed and if its not I'll keep it I guess. If it is yellow, I'll be on round 4 and have to wait for the new ones to be released.

So they couldn't give you a price difference between the
160gb and 200gb? I would think that is easily within their
power? Gee, throw us a bone!

You know the turnaround on the 200gb option is 2-3 weeks plus shipping time...
That would affect my decision more than anything.

I'll try my sales rep and see what she says.

Yeah let me know please, I have to call them back to let them know what I want to do. I'm inclined to see if my new screen is a good one and then just buy an external hardrive down the road...but, I would figure at least a small credit :(

Did you get educational or special pricing on yours? If you paid
full retail, the sales rep should have plenty of wiggle room to
give you a small credit.

corporate discount

Same discount for me. Left a message with my rep, waiting
on the call back...

I'm so tempted to return my MBP (citing bottom 1/3 yellowing
which is present to a very small degree on mine, but
tolerable) and order a 2.6Ghz/200gb 7200rpm. If only the turnaround
wasn't so long...

Yeah the ship time is sketchy at best, we could be looking at a December-January ship and that doesn't figure in what if the monitor come back yellow. GAH...I'd feel better if they just would do something. I don't necessarily want to send mine back, it is just frustrating to know that for the same amount you could have more space when you don't even have your computer yet.

Ah I had educational discount, less likely to get a refund/credit then?
