When I load Heroes of Might and Magic II, which starts OS 9, I get an Out of Memory error when I try to load a game. I can start games fine, but when I load them, it gives me the OoM error. I dug up the info on the game app, and increased the minimum size and the preferred size to nearly 10x what they used to be (the minimum was 7000KB and the preferred was 9000kb, and I increased both to 100000kb. I am running a 15" Powerbook, 512 MB RAM. Still gives me an error. What to do?

It may be that the game won't run in Classic.

That's it. The game wants something or other to work a certain way and it isn't working, so it hits that error.

I found this:

Good news! Someone else tried Heroes IV in Virtual PC and it did work. He was using Mac OS 10.1.4 on an iMac with a 700Mhz G4 processor, 32MB GeForce2 MX graphics, and 256MB RAM. Virtual PC was version 5.0 (not the 5.0.2 update) and it was running Windows 95.
Bad news! According to a report, Heroes II does not work properly in Mac OS 9.2.1 or 9.2.2 even though it did work in Mac OS 9.1. The problem is that you cannot load saved games, but it otherwise works fine. I hope to post more information about this when I have some time to experiment, but if anybody has some info, feel free to contact me.

Virtual PC 6 doesn't work in Tiger IIRC. Don't know if version 5 has the same issue or not.
