$720 trade in for 13PM.

720/1100 base price 13PM in 2021-Sept 2022 = 65%

or 13 Pro , $600.
600/1000 base price Pro = 60%

iPhone 13 = 470
470/829 (adding unlock hike) = 56.7%

IUP at the one year, half paid off, you can trade up for a new device and re-start financing as you know or keep going to complete payments to keep the phone without installments.

Foregoing that out of pocket offers flexibility of no AC+ if one desired, and IUP forces one into AC+, that's still 50% value after 1 year.

65 > 50.

--

Now It could be argued that interest free installments paid over Time is a better value than spending outright, if one did want AC+ no questions, accounting for inflation and purchasing power in the moment, but... thats another topic. just working the raw numbers here.

I always pay off my old device, and then order through Apple using carrier financing to get the crazy trade in deal.

Yea the only advantage of just trading to stay on iUP is if you don't have the cash to pay off the current installments. It's still more money over time than if you traded.

You give them the second newest latest and greatest for these “crazy trade in” carrier deals?

You should be giving them the cheapest and oldest that qualifies

I gave mine an iPhone 8 for $800 in 12 pro credits late 2020
