Hello everybody
one of my ipods has carked it and its out of warranty (no i didn't purchase a app for this one but i did for the other 2) so ive been going through apple ipod service documents reading the things specificaly about the replacements and i have a few questions.
1. if i do get the ipod replaced what will it get replaced with?
2. why do they charge so much for a replacement
3. if it does get replaced will i be able to purchase a protection plan for the replacement?
thanks for your help
if this is the wrong place for this i am sorry

AppleCare for any product does not cover accidental damage or user misuse/abuse. I'll assume that you meant to say "cracked" and in that case, a cracked screen would most likely be categorized as such.

But if you got lucky and Apple felt inclined to fix/ replace your iPod even though that damage isn't covered and you're not under warranty , then...

  1. A refurbished version of your exact iPod (some people w/ older iPods have lucked out and received a refurbished iPod of the current or a newer generation, but many more receive the same exact kind of iPod they sent in).
  2. Why shouldn't they charge "so much" for a replacement? You're practically getting a brand new iPod.
  3. I'm not sure, but I would assume so.

In that case, have you tried the 5 R's?

Hmm, I really dunno what else to say. Perhaps someone else will come along and be able to better troubleshoot your iPod's woes.

Have you tried contacting Apple? They might just up and tell you you're outta luck since it's no longer under warranty, or you might get lucky and they could replace the darned thing.
