I've recently migrated my email to an iCloud custom email domain. The actual transition was great, but - as an Outlook user - I've had a few challenges and am still having some trouble getting things to work.

With Outlook on MacOS, you can add iCloud as an IMAP account - specifying the custom address as your email and your iCloud address as your usernames - without much trouble. If you're using the "old" Outlook, it just works. If you're using the "new" Outlook, Microsoft insists you use their "Microsoft Sync" feature. Adding the account works, but you cannot specify your full name and the account settings are locked in once it's created. A little annoying, but not a huge issue.

Outlook on iOS is more challenging. I've tried to add my iCloud account as an IMAP account - using my custom domain as my email address and my specifying my iCloud address for both IMAP and SMTP - without success. I've ended up adding the account as an iCloud account. This works, of course, but the custom address can't be added and all sent mail originates from my icloud.com address. I'm stuck in limbo now, using Outlook for everything but sending from my iCloud account.

Has anyone had any luck with getting a custom email domain working with Outlook on iOS?

Had a chat with the MS Outlook guys, it is on their radar, but not a priority at the moment. I'd try again 3 months after it is released by Apple officially.

I transitioned from Outlook to Apple mail because of this. For me the key selling point of outlook is the MS Sync, with IMAP it was just meh. And yeah, it is a painful transition for sure...

Thanks for the info, good to know there may be some upcoming changes to address it. I do believe custom email domains are now a fully production released feature, no?
