Admittedly my e-mail workflow might be different from most in that I moved all the messages that I have responded from the Sent folder to the Deleted folder while waiting for others to respond.

I have set Outlook 365 for macOs on my MacBook as a mail client. I have setup my iCloud account as one of the mail accounts (along with others).

When I send an e-mail from my iCloud account the e-mail properly appears in the Sent folder with the proper date and time stamp. When I delete / move the e-mail from the Sent folder to the Deleted folder the the email appears in the Deleted folder but without any date or time stamp.

What makes this more confusing / interesting are the following:

1. The above loss of the date and time stamp when moving an iCloud e-mail from the Sent folder to the Deleted folder within Outlook 365 for macOS only occurs with my iCloud account; that is, within Outlook 365 for macOS this problem does not occur with the other mail accounts therein!

2. The above loss of the date and time stamp when moving an iCloud e-mail from the Sent folder to the Deleted folder only occurs within Outlook 365 for macOS; that is, when I move a e-mail from the iCloud e-mail Sent folder to the Deleted folder within Outlook 365 for macOS the e-mail does have the proper date and time stamp in Mail (i.e. Apple's native e-mail client)!

3. The above loss of the date and time stamp is replicated / occurs in Outlook 365 for macOS when moving an iCloud e-mail from the Sent folder to the Deleted folder from Mail (i.e. Apple's native e-mail client); that is, when I move a e-mail from the iCloud e-mail Sent folder to the Deleted folder within Mail (i.e. Apple's native e-mail client) the e-mail does not have the proper date and time stamp in Outlook 365 for macOS !

There seems to an issue with Outlook 365 for macOS!

Would appreciate any and all help in getting this solved!

Thx!

Hi, did you end up finding a solution to this? I am having a very similar problem.

Apologies for the delayed response, it has been one of those weeks. :(

The answer to your question that there is no solution. I worked with MSFT for weeks only to be told that they consider this to be normal behavior as they do not sync their masOS Outlook 365 as frequently / speedily as their Windows Outlook 365.

This really sucks but when MSFT tells me that it is normal I concluded that it is what it is.

Worth noting, I find macOS Outlook 365 so crippled that I stopped using it; too many problems, not worth teh aggravation!

Very upset with this; if MSFT is going to buidl macOS apps then at least make them equivalent and make them work.

Just my $0.02

That's not great! Sorry to hear.

Since I posted my question to you, I have been doing some homework trying to sort this out.

I tried to migrate my mail from O365 (business) to iCloud mail (with a domain). I had both accounts in Mac Mail and dragged the Sent Items folder from the O365 account to the iCloud account.

Upon realising that iCloud mail would not suit my needs, I reversed the process. However, when I dragged the Sent Items back to O365 all the dates all changed to today's date.

In the Mac Outlook client, if I sorted by 'Date Sent' they would appear correctly, but if I sort by 'Date Received' they would all show today's date.

However, in the 'New' Outlook for Mac (and the Outlook iOS app) it only sorts by one date, which is 'Date Received', not 'Date Sent'. Mac Mail would sort the emails this way too, which is a massive pain in the ass for sent items.

Apparently, Outlook applies the date the mail first appears in Outlook (so in this case, it was the import date) rather than the date sent.

So what a nightmare.

Anyhow, I found an ok solution...
  1. Using Mac Mail, I exported my now messy O365 sent items to an MBOX file.
  2. I then exported that MBOX file to a .PST using an application I found on the web (which cost $90 by the way).
  3. I then imported the .PST into Outlook and the dates were all fixed. It was pretty amazing actually.
Having said that, I don't think 100% of the emails exported to the MBOX properly, so I have kept the messed up folder. I can still find things if I need to.
