I have a real problem and I would really appreciate your help in getting it resolved.

Since upgrading my iMac and an Macbook Air to Yosemite 10.10 and Office for Mac 2011 to 14.4.5, Outlook refuses to connect with our corporate Exchange 2010 Server (prior to upgrading everything worked fine) ?

I have deleted and tried to recreate my mail account using the autodiscover function but it comes back with the error

"Account cannot be added. Note that Outlook 2011 requires Exchange Server 2007 SP1 Update Rollup 4 or later"

I have tried to manually create my account using the mail server address and it still won't connect, it just says its connecting ????

When I try to replicate my email Outlook comes back with the following error

"The schedule "Receive All" could not be successfully executed."
"The account could not be found"
"Error code 0"

This is causing me real problems and I am now using Mac mail, calendar and contacts to get around the issue, but it is far from ideal.

I have tried our IT helpdesk but we are a Microsoft shop and they haven't really got a clue. I have checked all the server and port settings with them and they are correct so they can't really help after that ?

A number of my colleagues have also got the same issue and one of them has completely reinstalled Office from scratch but still no joy !

Any help you could give would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Office 365

I thought about that as well, but you are correct the new version of Outlook is only available to Office 365 users which doesn't work with an Exchange server

If you have an O365 account, you can download Outlook and use it with Exchange or other email accounts perfectly well.

If you were using Entourage before you upgraded to Outlook 2011, then which version of Entourage were you using?

If I recall correctly, Outlook 2011 Mac cannot connect directly to the Exchange server via auto discovery, and must be set up to connect via the EWA (Exchange Web Access) interfaces.

If you have a webmail.companyname.com or some such Outlook webmail service accessible from an external IP, you can use the URL to plug into the Accounts setup. Try asking IT for the webmail URL.

The details go into the Advanced.. section under the Accounts.

You recall incorrectly. However, I get tired of jumping up and down screaming "Exchange is not just one thing!!!"

Exchange is whatever your IT staff says it is. Outlook:win cannot always autodiscover Exchange even though it is supposed to. It all depends on how your IT staff has setup your network and your firm's Exchange server.

Whenever I have issues connecting a Mac to my firm's Exchange server, I find that the most effective way to connect Entourage/Outlook 2011 is to record the server settings from a properly configured implementation of Outlook on a colleague's Windows computer. I then manually enter those settings into Microsoft's Mac communications client.
