Hey Apple Lovers:

I need some help. I know that this question has been asked probably 1000 times, but I still am confident that there is a solution. I am going to give as much information as I have in hopes that someone will have figured this out or have a similar situation.

My company does not support the iPhone for individuals lower than VP level. They only allow BlackBerry's for everyone else. We have a BlackBerry Exchange Server (2007 with Outlook Web Access Enabled). Both IMAP and POP are disabled. The company is fine with us using Apps to connect to the OWA for the iPhone, but cannot support it (corporate policy). I would like to use the native mail app connecting through the web client. I have heard of individuals doing this through the exchange account on the iPhone. I have not been able to do this correctly. I tried a BB and it will auto configure via the web client. I would think that the iPhone could do something similar.

My email is setup as the following:

https://mail.company.com/owa

User Name: Domain\First.LastName
Password: email password

There are some re-directs associated with the address too. We have many business units and some of them access their web client through:

https://webmail.company.com

Same log in information used.

Last comments. Our IT department is ok with us accessing outlook web access with any computer and mobile device. They just do not support the iPhone internally. Thanks for any help, as I love the mail client for the iPhone and am very tried of waiting for a high quality app for this option. Thanks!!

Just try setting up your Exchange account on your iPhone and see if it works. If asked for the server address, put the same one you use for OWA, but don't type the "/OWA" part. Maybe you are lucky and your IT department hasn't disabled Active Sync on your account...

Not sure if this will help but here's how mine is set up (my company also does not formally support the iPhone):

Email: username@company.com

Server: webmail.company.com

Domain: company.com
Username: username
Password: password

Description: Company

Use SSL: On

I wasn't entirely clear on your question(s) so I may be missing the point entirely but this is how I set mine up to work.

That's because you can't. If anyone told you that they had, they are wrong.

There are several apps in the store that will do what you want. One is 'Outlook Mail Pro'. Another is 'Outlook Mail Complete'.

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I have tried, but it does not connect. I have read many blogs and posts and this is what everyone is saying to do. There must be something unique about our server................Thanks for your comments.

Thanks. I have both of these apps. They are pretty good, but still no way to push or pull your mail automatically. Mail Pro is my preferred, but it gives me error messages from time to time. Thanks for your advice.

Unless you can get the server information from your IT department nobody can help you.

Yeah, that is the problem. Our server address is difficult to get. I have pinged it, but it is conflicting because of the redirect. We have so many different business units it is difficult to find my company's actual address..........Thanks though.......

For my work I had to log into the VPN access website and install a mobile profile to allow my phone to connect. Its basically a profile file that enforces a passcode on my phone but gives me the encryption keys necessary to access the corporate resources like email, calendar, and global address list in contacts.

If this sort of thing isn't offered at your company or they haven't enable normal outside access to exchange active sync then you may want to try this http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/webmail/id392501588?mt=8.

Since your so confident here is a list of solutions
  • Become a VP
  • Use one of the several apps in the App store that can serve Ootlook WebAccess email
  • Continue using a BlackBerry
  • Use the Outlook WebAccess in a web browser
  • Try to get your corporate IT policy changed
  • Find a solution in one of the other thousand threads that you say this has been asked in

Your company probably only enables ActiveSync on certain user iD's. This is a specific Exchange/Active Directory setting that allows IT departments to control who can use ActiveSync and who cannot. Your best bet is the apps mentioned above......Tell your IT dept. if they are interested in securely supporting iOS and Android devices, check out Good's platform (http://www.good.com). I just convinced my company to purchase the software and it's pretty much BES for other devices besides Blackberries.

I've been trying to setup Outlook Complete from ikonicapps.com for the past 2 weeks with no success. My wife! on the other hand, got it to work on the first try.
Based on my experience and by reading the reviews, either it works great or causes a lot of frustration. You might be in for some disappointment if you can't get support from your IT department. I'd say it's worth the $5 to give it a try.

Yeah, I found Good software last go around with this. I spoke to our IT guy and he was familiar with it too. They are still allowing pilot/beta users, just not full deployment yet. I heard a rumor that they are not going to allow it to everyone, so I am looking for a way around it via OWA now. Thanks for the advice!
