Outlook Web Access UI gone backwards

Hi there,

We use Outlook & Exchange where I work. I've upgraded to 10.10 and now when I got to Outlook Web Access (the only way to share a calendar or subscribe to a .ics calendar) the interface is about 5 years out of date and I can't share my calendar or add another one.

It's not a Mac or Exchange issue as a colleague on Mavericks is able to access the normal OWA interface.

Any ideas why this is, or how I can solve it?

I assume you're using Safari? Have you tried using Chrome for OWA?

Sorry, should've mentioned that I was using Safari, but tested on Chrome. Both browsers display the same outdated UI

I've gotten around the outdated OWA interface by either using Safari or OmniWeb by changing the browser user agent.

Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Show Develop menu in menu bar
Develop menu > User Agent > Internet Explorer 10.0

OmniWeb is a bit more effort to set up, but I like that browser's ability to set up specific preferences for each site. I'll leave that one to you...

I've seen a few OWA interfaces that use DirectX - those elements don't translate to non-Windows browsers.

Tried a couple of other user agents (older Safari, Chrome, IE etc) but all in vein.

Reckon there's any way my IT department are managing this? Don't tell anyone but we were, er, 'advised' not to install 10.10. But a few of us have. This and out of date Canon printer drivers appear to the the only issues thus far

Looks like OWA was forcing me into OWA Light. I've worked out a way to stop it doing this, but then it asks me to install Active X

User agent sniffing is one of the banes of the internet IMO - just like I "need to install Flash" for CNN and ESPN videos, but the HTML5 video works just fine when I make the User Agent an iPad. Grrr.

As to the printer drivers, take Apple's advice in their 4th paragraph - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3669

I have a boat anchor Samsung laser printer that there was no native support for and Samsung hadn't updated their driver in ages - so I downloaded the ML-2160 driver and it works great on my ML-2010. I use an old Canon inkjet too, and newer software works perfectly well for it as well. Cheers!
