Mozilla Thunderbird

I was faced with this exact problem while helping a friend migrate from Windows to the Mac. Microsoft doesn't make it easy for you to leave their application. The only was I found around this was the following procedure:

(1) Install Mozilla Thunderbird email client on your XP Box
(2) Import all your Outlook messages to Thunderbird
(3) Once imported, export all the Thunderbird messages to a file with mbox format.
(4) Move the file to your OS X box and import it into Mail.app. You need to select "Other" when asked about the source format by Mail.app. Alternatively, you can also use Thunderbird for OS X and in that case, just import it into Thunderbird.

Thanx for the reply,

U'd think Microsoft would make it easier to move from 1 to the other - or is it just 1 of there ways to make people stick with windows (Although by the time people find out the problem they've already got the MAC and they'll just be slaggin microsoft off instead.

I've also been told that Office:Mac is better than the windows version!!!!

I've installed Thunderbird, and imported all my e-mails.

but I cant find any way of exporting them into a file.

I to have seen little machines (outlook2mac)- and the trial looks very good, however my paypal account has been suspended and that's the only payment they take.
