Over the air update

If I download ios 5.1.1 over the air for my ipad, will it transfer the ios5.1.1 update to my macbook later on when I connect it?

The reason I would like it to transfer is just for restore purposes. Thanks.

No. It will only download the update to the iPad and delete the file once it's done updating. The update never reaches the computer unless you do the update on the computer.

either try updating via over the air.
in the settings option on the iPad.
or do it via iTunes

You can no longer update to 5.0.1. Apple has stopped signing that firmware. You can only update to 5.1.1.
