Any chance we'll see any sort of iPhone+:apple:TV compatibility on June 29th?

Depending on one's particular combination of TV, set-top boxes, phones, cameras, etc... there are already a decent number of homes that have the ability to display their images/vids on the tube without the use of a computer.

I don't envision a large amount of compatibility features for the two, if any... but I think it would be nice to be able to sync over images/vids taken with the iPhone over to the :apple:TV without having to use iTunes.

Not holding my breath, but think it'd be a nice feature.

I can envision a LOT of combined iPhone/AppleTV features, but I don't think we'll be seeing them in June. Later in the year, possibly with Leopard. There'll be so much buzz about the known and unknown features of iPhone in July and August, we're lucky if we get any other Apple news in that period.

Anyway, the features I'd like to see:

Stream music and movies from iPhone to AppleTV. Treat nearby iPhones as iTunes libraries.

Use iPhone as the input device for AppleTV. The Apple Remote is cute for menu browsing, but it will be a pain for any sort of text input (like the YouTube search). Why not have an AppleTV menu on iPhone that, among other things, pops up the keyboard on iPhone for use with AppleTV? Also allow it to work as a regular remote so we'd only need iPhone to control our AppleTVs (but be able to use the Apple Remote instead if we wanted to).

Why not browse the web using your iPhone as the multi-touch input device, but seeing the result on your HDTV? I'm not sure if transfer speeds would be good enough for smooth operation, but they should be able to work it out.

Oh, please, no... Don't make iPhone more attractive than it already is.

all good points, nevin.

I'd add that remote control would be key for controlling music playback on the :apple: TV without having the tv on.

I don't really see any specific compatibility. iTunes is still the center of Apple's media platform, and I see it staying that way for some time. Sure there could be streaming and that could be done, but don't hold your breath, iTunes is still the gate keeper.
