I don't think I've seen a thread yet to capture peoples' overall thoughts on the WWDC announcements as a whole. So...what are your thoughts on everything that was announced yesterday?

MacBook Air - I'm impressed! I never really heard any rumors or leaks about this. Jumping from 7 to 12 hours of battery life on the 13" is significant! I was hoping (long shot) for a retina MBA, but oh well.

OS X Mavericks - Another announcement I was pleasantly surprised with. The new features look great, the design looks great, and I like the idea that they are going to take the naming scheme in a new direction. It feels fresh and rejuvinated in a way. I like it.

Mac Pro - Completely shocked. This announcement reaffirmed my belief that Apple can still keep major product releases under tight wraps until release day if they are really hell-bent on doing it. There was a rumor that the Mac Pro would see a radical redesign, but there were no images or details whatsoever about it. I'm not a Mac Pro user, so this product doesn't really apply to me, but I was happy to see it. It also reaffirmed my belief that Apple CAN still innovate (thank you Mr. Schiller!). Very cool/interesting design.

iOS 7 - I love it...the new fonts, the new colors, the new icons, the new features. It's a complete breathe of fresh air IMO. I know it isn't perfect and there is going to be a lot of mudslinging going on between those who love it and those who despise it...but it is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Less clutter, more simplicity, skeumorphism GONE for the most part, more white space, new default app icons, multi-tasking, new Safari design, new lock screen, Control Center, refreshed Notification Center. I love it all.

iTunes Radio - I don't really have a lot to say about it as I'm not a streaming internet radio user. But I'm glad to see that got this deal done and they are able to offer this. I may dabble in it eventually, but for now it isn't something that pertains to me.

Designed By Apple - I love this direction they appear to be going in with their marketing. It is such a stark contrast to how Samsung chooses to market their devices, and I love it in every way. They're focusing on how Apple takes their time to create the best products, not the most...and how those products help to connect people and enrich lives in a unique and enjoyable way. And they don't spend a single second eluding to or mentioning the competition in any real way.

Overall, I have to say this is easily the most action packed and enjoyable WWDC since 2007. Lots of great new products and designs to be happy about.

I can only agree with everything you wrote. I don't even have a Mac but was impressed by the Air and especially the Pro. Love what I saw of ios 7 as well.

I think it was very successful. Apple needed to come out all guns blazing and i feel they did just that.
not just in terms of product but attitude, stance and how they present them selves to the world and industry.

Sticking to their guns of 'We know what we are doing and love it' and not listening to pundits or critics played really well. There was an easy way out, a new aluminium box with expected upgrades for the mac pro, a lightly touched up iOS 7 and the same adverts that have been running for years.

Instead we got a punch in the face macpro (in a good way, im a fan of it) and a well built and well considered iOS7 with adverts that have gone a whole new direction with their message.

one of the best keynotes i've seen in a while.

It was a keynote with purpose. Jam packed but kept to 2 hours. Not like the 3 hour Google I/O that really dragged on. I also like that they called their new music service iTunes radio and its just a feature of the app rather than making some big deal about a new pandora style music service. I thought there was too much hype around the Google service. It's not really that different than existing services already on the market.

Actually, the Haswell processor impact on battery life was rumored and discussed quite a bit, to use one example.

Update: I used the wrong link. The correct one here.

My issue with Pandora is the limited library size. iTunes doesn't have that problem.
