I don't think I've seen a thread yet to capture peoples' overall thoughts on the WWDC announcements as a whole. So...what are your thoughts on everything that was announced yesterday?
MacBook Air - I'm impressed! I never really heard any rumors or leaks about this. Jumping from 7 to 12 hours of battery life on the 13" is significant! I was hoping (long shot) for a retina MBA, but oh well.
OS X Mavericks - Another announcement I was pleasantly surprised with. The new features look great, the design looks great, and I like the idea that they are going to take the naming scheme in a new direction. It feels fresh and rejuvinated in a way. I like it.
Mac Pro - Completely shocked. This announcement reaffirmed my belief that Apple can still keep major product releases under tight wraps until release day if they are really hell-bent on doing it. There was a rumor that the Mac Pro would see a radical redesign, but there were no images or details whatsoever about it. I'm not a Mac Pro user, so this product doesn't really apply to me, but I was happy to see it. It also reaffirmed my belief that Apple CAN still innovate (thank you Mr. Schiller!). Very cool/interesting design.
iOS 7 - I love it...the new fonts, the new colors, the new icons, the new features. It's a complete breathe of fresh air IMO. I know it isn't perfect and there is going to be a lot of mudslinging going on between those who love it and those who despise it...but it is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Less clutter, more simplicity, skeumorphism GONE for the most part, more white space, new default app icons, multi-tasking, new Safari design, new lock screen, Control Center, refreshed Notification Center. I love it all.
iTunes Radio - I don't really have a lot to say about it as I'm not a streaming internet radio user. But I'm glad to see that got this deal done and they are able to offer this. I may dabble in it eventually, but for now it isn't something that pertains to me.
Designed By Apple - I love this direction they appear to be going in with their marketing. It is such a stark contrast to how Samsung chooses to market their devices, and I love it in every way. They're focusing on how Apple takes their time to create the best products, not the most...and how those products help to connect people and enrich lives in a unique and enjoyable way. And they don't spend a single second eluding to or mentioning the competition in any real way.
Overall, I have to say this is easily the most action packed and enjoyable WWDC since 2007. Lots of great new products and designs to be happy about.
