How can i succesfully and efficiently overclock my iMAc g4? thanks. detailed answers appreciated. ;)

I have an iMac G4 and it already has overheating problems... I really don't think I could suggest that you overclock it. Unless you open it all up and change the cooling system?

Above is for 167 Bus iMac (1.0 GHz+)
Here is what you looking for.

I OC'ed few 800 MHz iMacs and full succes was with only one. Only one of about 4-5, i don't remember now...
One had KPs, one had overheating problems, one refused to boot with OC'ed CPU.

Max stable was 900 MHz (100 MHz increase), max that i have reach with 800 was 1000 MHz (booted and KP after 5 mins - too hot).

So decision is up to you.

i knew its for the 167mhz model only, but it was only meant as a hint how and for the problems it will cause , the cooling system is the worst part on the iMac g4 , while the eMac which has the same processors but the heatpipe and coolingsystem is over-engineered and keeps it cool, even overclocking from 800 to 1.33 is stable and works , where as the iMac starts cooking and freezing even at mild overclocking attempts , reason a very small heatsink compared to the eMac and the fan is not as efficient , but quiet

so if the op urgently wants a faster iMac g4.... his best an safest bet is to get the 20" 1.25 model ,instead of trying to fry his iMac g4

Hard to disagree with that :)

Only one benefit of OC'ing this iMac could be native Leo support: no OF hack and other tweaks needed to install.
...and maybe a little improvement of OP's soldering skills and iMac anatomy ;)
