Overdrive is used to download audiobooks from libraries.

The MacOS version is 32 bit so it will be discontinued on 9/4/19 rather than upgrade it to 64 bit for 10.15 .

Overdrive Live which streams audiobooks to computers and Libby which allows audiobook listening on devices (I'm not sure if it's also streaming or not) will still be supported.

Another option is to run Overdrive for Desktops on a Windows computer.

Overdrive for 8.1 / 10 on a Windows computer is similar to Overdrive Live.

Any alternatives to downloading audiobooks from Overdrive on MAC OSX 10.15 (Catalina)? I transfer the audiobook to ITunes then sync it with my IPod Nano, 6th generation. Or, is there any way to transfer the audiobook from the Overdrive app to ITunes on an IPad? Don’t get why the Overdrive developers won’t upgrade Overdrive to a 64 bit application to be compatible with OSX 10.15 & support it.

You can hope that they plan to port Libby for iPad to Mac via Xcode 11. "Avoiding re-writing the 32-bit Mac app" has been one of the discussed benefits of using this path.

Don't know much about app development but if they "port Libby for iPad to Mac via Xcode 11" would that allow downloading audiobooks to your MAC to continue as opposed to streaming audiobooks within the app?

I complained on the Overdrive Facebook page. Evidently, Overdrive is getting a lot of heat for ending support for MAC users. So, a partial victory. They're restoring support but not for Catalina.
