overestimated shipping?

I just put in one heck of an order today (my sister and I need laptops for college):
2 macbook pros 15" 2ghz w/glossy display, 1 GB RAM
2 canon pixma mp170 printers
2 black 2gb ipod nanos

however, the email I got said that the macbook pros wouldnt ship until june 26th and delivery wouldnt be until july 3rd! I can sort of understand the 26th shipping date (they are custom built machines) but that long for shipping? has anyone else who has ordered online using the standard 5 day shipping gotten their machines before the estimated date? or should I really not expect the MBPs until next month? an apple rep. I spoke with on the phone stated I should expect delivery midweek like june 28th or so... are they pulling my leg?

well since they are BTO they will be shipping out of the country, thus taking longer, and if you took Ground Shipping its not surprising at all in my opinion.

that is the longest it will take, but they could come sooner, depending on supplies and all that.

yeah, i'm not surprised at all that BTO machines have a longer estimated shipping time.. but keep in mind, apple would prefer to overestimate the date rather than underestimate and have their customer ticked off.. so, it's possible it may come sooner than that.

Hey I just ordered a macbook, ipod, and printer (I too am from NJ)...and the items were shipped at different times...but they all arrived early than the predicted ship times. I would count on getting thos much sooner than July 3rd!
...but dont hate me if I'm wrong.

Here's a cool tip for you:

If you can, have your stuff shipped to your parents workplace (or your workplace if you have one). When you order, be sure to check the box marked "This address is a business." Then select the standard shipping (5 to 7 days). Every time I do this, Apple upgrades my stuff to two day shipping (that's two business days) absolutely free. My brother ordered his white 2.0 BTO MacBook last friday night and it arrived by 10am on Tuesday morning.

If you can, call Apple and see if they can change the shipping address.

I put my order for my Nano, and Macbook in, standard shipping, the Nano beat the estimate by 2 days, and the macbook beat it by one.. I'm in Ontario

i ordered a 17" macbook pro, 30gb video ipod and pixma printer on the 14th, and the ipod and printer both came in monday, and the macbook pro's expected shipping date went from being today to monday. i got second day shipping and everything, and its still not expected in til the 29th. assuming they dont change it again.

im kind of annoyed and sad.

Those dates sound fine to me. 3 days or so for them to make them, and then 1 week for them to get from China (where the BTO's are made) to wherever you live. You might get lucky though and have them make your stuff sooner and have the shipping take less than a week.

in my case apple did overestimate the shipping. i ordered my macbook stock on a thursday , it shipped from china on saturday night via fedex, and i had it on tuesday morning at 9:30 am in texas. I got the ipod nano and it came on monday morning. I have been nothing but satisfied with apple. my macbook is flawless, no moos no whines.


why is it that some people are waiting at least a month, when mine only took a few days.?

I ordered mine on May the 26th - and I'm still waiting.

The order is nearly here, I hope, the delivery date is set as June 28 on the Apple Order Status site, but I checked www.apecode.com and the status is "Truck Arrived at Final Destination". I've heard that this means it should only be a couple of business working days away - so I hope to have it by tomorrow for the weekend, but I doubt that this will be the case. I'm probably more likely to be looking at Monday or Tuesday next week. For me personally Apple's shipping and delivery time sucks. Having to wait over one month for a laptop is a joke.

I suppose it depends where you live or how lucky you are. I'm in Birmingham, England. I suppose this means I'm very unlucky!

They estimated perfectly this time. I called them and FedEx is to blame as to why my macbook isn't already here. Apparently, there was a mix-up, and that is why it's still in Japan. Stupid FedEx..

I ordered a stock MB and ipod on Tuesday (6/20), they gave an estimated ship date of June 21 for the ipod and June 22nd for the MB, with estimated arrival dates of 6/26 & 6/27. The next day they bumped the estimated ship date for the ipod back to the 22nd, like the MB, but then it did ship on 6/21 as they originally predicted.

But today they moved back the estimated ship date on the MacBook to 6/26 with an arrival date of 7/3.

I'm guessing both will be here tomorrow. ; - )

I ordered my MacBook (1.8, 1GB, 100) on the 14th of june, estimated ship on the 23rd and delivery on the 29th...

turned out to be a huge overestimate - shipped on the 20th and arrived yesterday (!) - but no one was home - so i get it today. Not bad considering the estimated ship was today
