I have download a theme called Neo Black which i really like, the only problem is that it comes with sounds for Lock/Unlock, New Mail, New SMS, Charging etc all in a spoken voice.

It was good to start with but its starting to wear very thin with my wife now! Any idea how to override these sounds back to default or my choice?

Thanks for any help.

I had a little play around with the sounds in settings, it seems that only Tri-Tone and Chime are overwritten by the theme, the rest are stock. I know i could just change my theme, but its hard to find a theme which skins all the icons that you have, this is the best i've found.

I'm still looking for a way to reset the SMS, Mail, Lock/Unlock, Charging sounds back to stock whilst keeping my theme. Any ideas?

Right I've solved my own question, I just copied the original sound files from System/Library/Audio/UIsounds/ to Private/var/stash/themes.jvztsy/themename/uisounds this replaces the themed sounds with the original ones.

Hope this helps someone else.

Why not just reorder in Winterboard, wouldn't that have been easier? :)

Could you give an example. I have no sounds in winterboard, and there isn't a option like default sounds or user sounds. I'm sure you right but if you could explain it would be helpful

Many thanks.

Reordering your themes, putting one on top of another. However I re-read your post (I haven't had my coffee yet, my apologies:cool:). If you had a theme with sounds and another sound pack you'd want to use, that should work. However you just want stock sounds instead of sounds included in the theme. If it made things easier for you should you want to use another theme and not want to manually copy everything over again, I would try to create a default sound theme and see if that helps as well. :)

Many thanks for your help, i might have ago a creating a default sound theme, and use that whenever the themes sounds get on my nerves.

Thanks

If you're confident enough to SSH, go into your theme file (Neo Black) and delete the UISounds file. Everything will drop back to stock.
