Hello,

1. Is this worth it for $2,279.99 ??? I'm currently using just 2 external USB drives that are a pain in the butt. Was thinking to just swap them for a G-Drive thunderbolt one.... but would prefer to have it all internal.

2. Is it easy to install? If I'm replacing the current 256gb SSD... do I have reinstall the operating system?

Thanks

It's overpriced for something that only operates at half-speed. Some forum members have had success using M.2 SSDs in an adaptor that was meant for MacBook Pros. Personally I'm waiting to see if the new 4TB M.2 SSDs from Samsung work.

If you are ready to spend that kind of money, I would consider this upgrade instead.

Its newer, faster and not based on a questionable sand force controller chip. Somewhere here in the forum there are member who did go this route and are more happy. Over the years, I have read about too many returns regarding OWC SSD's. I am not sure it its wise to spend that amount just to get a 720MB/sec read speed (2014 gen tech). The Amfeltec is not cheap, but I think very solid and at least two generations newer from a SSD blade point of view. On top of that you can choose solid mainstream SSDs like the Kingston HyperX Predator
blades that really do work and do around 1300MB/sec read speed.
