My glass is half full.

OWC needs shelf space for a large truck of Mac Pros expected in next few weeks, has to clear those shelves.

Much better spin.

I really doubt that's the case, but it is good to remain positive I guess. I gave up, and ordered a new HP 16 core. Just got tired of waiting.

Shelf space can't be it because they just got a big shipment they said, hence the lowering of the price. They also said first come first serve. So...they are being cleared out for one reason or another, but it ain't to clear current stock.

It's just the server model. So I guess another possibility could be that Apple is discontinuing the Server model.

It could even just be from a company guessing it's about to be refreshed and clearing stock.

We'll have to wait and see.

Dingdingdingding Winnah! This is just OWC placing a business bet through educated speculation. It's probably a good bet, too: I think the consensus in the community was that the Mac Pro, if nothing else, seemed like a good refresh to announce as part of WWDC. Of course, it now looks possible that the entire line might be announced there, but based on precedent we at least knew the Pro *had* been announced there before, whereas for example the iMacs never were.

There are 10 of them. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Thumbs up. If it's just 10 of them, I wouldn't read much into this at all. They may have gotten a good deal from another retailer, or had a big sale fall through and are selling stock already partly paid for.

I think sales of Mac Pros - at the moment - are close to nil as people wait for an announcement. I suspect the only people buying Mac Pros currently are the ones who have no choice... for instance their current Mac Pro has just broken and they need to get back to work. But my feeling is that everyone with an older Mac Pro and who would like to upgrade, but don't absolutely have to, are waiting to see what happens (or waiting for their current system to break).

Same thing for people not currently using a Mac Pro but who can justify one, but don't absolutely need one just yet. They're just waiting.

Once Apple makes an announcement my prediction is that the 'new' Mac Pro will have a terrific quarter as everybody catches up, or the existing supply of refurbished and clearance Mac Pros disappears overnight as everybody with a 2008 or older machine upgrades to what just became the last version available.

imho, of course....
