Hi,

I've had my iphone x since feb 2018, i love face id, and gesture of the X. But i have always missed the width of my old iphone 7 plus... I'm now thinking do i sell my iphone x that has applecare till feb 2020 and get an iphone xs max... probably best of both worlds with the max?

what is everyone else doing that's in a similar position...

Thanks in advance

ian

In this case, the XS Max is definitely the way to go. I have a 7+ right now and am leaning toward the Max.

I think the XS max is gonna still not gonna be as wide at the 8 plus. Your best bet is to see one in person before buying one and selling your regular X.

This is exactly what I’m doing. The prices caught me off guard though and I’m glad I sold my X before the announcement. The resale value has probably gone down by now.

Physically, the XSM is only 0.7mm shy of the width of an 8 Plus (0.5/0.4 for the 7+/6+ respectively), but with 1242px vs. 1080, so you get roughly the same "display area" with more information density.

Considering the Max as well. I have the X now. Miss the bigger screen. But I may just skip this year and wait for next year's models. Nothing really different from the X to an XS besides the bigger screen....and I feel like my X from last year still hasn't been used hard enough for me to upgrade. Besides iOS 12 is coming Monday and that should make my X feel fresh again.

Same here - always had a plus but got the X last year. I'm definitely getting the Max this year. This is partly due to my eyesight is not what it was....a bigger screen would be helpful when reading on my phone.

I have an 8 plus now but I’m afraid one hand use won’t happen with me and carrying the Max around might not be pocket friendly, guess I have till midnight to decide

I have the 7 Plus by am considering going to the XR just because the price of the Max is utterly ridiculous.

The XR is a surprising option for me because I was not expecting it’d get portrait mode, but it has it.

My only concern is screen width.

The big screen is the only thing I miss from my 7+. I game and read a lot, so despite the nicer compact form of the X, I’ll be up at midnight tonight for the Xs Max.

Might end up keeping the Max for a few years though - upgrade prices are really getting a bit out of hand for those of us that like to upgrade annually.

What’s annoying is none of the videos seem to be comparing the 8plus to the Xs max. If it’s a slightly smaller/ lighter body with a bigger screen then the max is a no brainer for me. I have long fingers and have no problem one handing a plus.

I have an 8 plus and I was debating on whether to get the Xs or the Max. After playing around on the Apple website and comparing the screen size in almost the same body frame I think I’m going to get the Max.
