Just wanted to see if anyone else has this problem. I searched the forums and saw similar issues but not exactly like I am having. I am on my 3rd iPhone 3G (had to return first 2 for other hardware issues) so I am familiar with how the phone works in different situations at and around my house. As soon as I got this new one, I noticed immediately that 50% of the time when I make or receive a call, I can hear my own voice echoing in the speaker and its usually a good second or two delay. When it happens, it is practically impossible to have a conversation because it is so loud. I've tried switching it to speaker phone to make it go away and holding the phone a different distances from my mouth but I still hear the echo. I use to only be on Edge at my house and just blamed it on the network but then we just got 3G and the problem is exactly the same. My wife has an iPhone as well as one of my friends and they both say that it happens to them too but way less often than it happens to me. Does this sound like another hardware issue?

Its happen to be only a few times. In my case I think it was just a bad tower or something. If its happening all the time, I would consult a genius.

i have had a similar problem i believe it has to do with volume if the other person is on speaker or has there volume really loud sometimes when you speak it repeats through there mic at the other end.

I get that every once in a while too. From talking to a few techs, I have learned it isn't hardware related on the consumer end. It is an issue that is carrier related. It can be caused by a number of things, but roaming to a new tower can trigger it and is the most common cause. Hangup and redial will solve this.

Interestingly enough, i learned from talking to other engineers I work with, it isn't just ATT. I have friends on Sprint and VZ that had this happen too. Seems to be it could be more radio related on the tower.
