I've been on the fence for a while about the iPad and finally decided to get one. The plan was to place order on Apple.com. I went to the Apple Store today and much to my surprise, they had exactly what I wanted in stock. I purchased a 3g 16gb iPad. It is syncing now. Can't wait to play.

Congratulations! I planned on getting the 3G version but something magical happened to me on the launch day that prevented me from exchanging the WiFi for a 3G model.

Ordered mine at the apple store in NYC and had to wait 11 days for mine to arrive. Had it for a few days now and brought it down to DC for the holiday weekend, and couldn't be happier about bringing this rather than a laptop.

I'm sure you'll enjoy yours as well.

It's good to hear they are starting to catch up and have stock in-store. I had a 32GB 3G on order from the online store that was due to be delivered the 24th... which was when I was in line to get my reserved iPhone. I had only ordered online to get in before the unlimited data expired, but after thinking about it I'd rather just turn data on now and then and can live with 2GB in those cases. I am going back to my original plan of waiting until I can walk in-store in New Hampshire and get it tax-free. I am also thinking I can live with 16GB now that I have a 32GB iPhone. I'd like to have the GPS and option for occasional 3G, so I am now leaning towards the same model as you.

And now you don't have the stress of dealing with ATT and their flip flop data plans. I take mine to job sites (all have wifi) or use it at home. I never thought twice about getting 3G. Enjoy.

What is the location of the store that you purchased it from?

You will find 3G useful when traveling or just moving around your city. It is an absolutely excellent replacement for a map/GPS.
