I'm trying to make a costom package to install a program into the applications folder, and install .preference files to a users home directory.

I don't know how to install the costom config files to a users home directory. It seems you can only absolute path to the install location.

I basically don't know what to put into the destination box for the file in packagemaker to get it to install to a users home directory.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

^^ That's right. ^^

Probably moot at this point, but another option is to defer configuration to the first time the app is run. (Perhaps in this case, you check for the existance of the .preferences file and create it if it doesn't exist). The point is to not need an installer at all--the user just copies the app to the Applications folder (or elsewhere) and that's it. It doesn't work out for every app, but it's nice when it does.
