Hey everyone. Been reading a few threads saying that having high page outs are bad. I have a 2009 i7 27" with 16gigs of ram and under the memory sections it tells me that I have about 550 page outs and 3,000,00 page ins. The machine has been on for about 2 days now. I have been using a combination of aperture, illustrator, autocad, and the standard itunes, mail safari mix. Why is the page out so high?

define "high". Cause one persons definition of "high" might not be the same as yours. relax.

Oh ok. Thanks for reference. What would be high? Does it cause concern?

Page outs over 10 percent would be a concern. so 3,000,000 page ins and 550 pages outs are fine.

You have 16gb ram in your iMac> low ram can boost pages outs. In your case just take a look and see if it ever gets to 10 percent.

Since your iMac is maxed for ram if you page outs get crazy high you need to look for other solutions . But 550 is fine.
