Pageonce Bills: ruined by a .99 cent a MONTH charge to manually add bills!

This was a great app when it was free. When I saw the upgrade to version 1.1 had ads I hesitated to update and decided to do some further investigation. I was lead to believe when I read the details within the change log under "Top App Purshase" (prior to the upgrade) that it was going to be a .99 cent upgrade which I thought was a fair price for all this app really does and to have "No Ads". It is not until after you upgrade and you LOG OUT and LOG IN that you can see under the details that it is in fact .99 cents per month! The people that are saying it is only a one time purchase of .99 cents have not LOGGED OUT and LOGGED back IN and looked at the "DETAILS" (where it clearly shows .99 / month).

Very misleading and sneaky! Shame on Pageonce! This will keep me from buying their Finance app ($6.99) which I was seriously considering to compliment this app (Bills). Don't get me wrong, I don't expect every app to be free because I was willing to pay a one time .99 cent upgrade, I just don't like the deceptive way that Pageonce went about this. .99 cents a month! No way!

pageonce finance app is phenomenal! It combines everything into one. Credit cards, bank accounts, ebay, netflix, amazon, travel accounts. Plus I feel like it's more secure since you can only view transactions, not actually make any changes to them. In case then phone ever gets lost or stolen.

I like the Pageonce Finance app as well (a co-worker was showing it to me and I was just about to buy it) but the Finance app is not what this thread is about (Pageonce Bills). I wanted to bring attention to how Pageonce is not being entirely up front with the true cost of the upgrade. I think for what the app does and to have no ads, it is a .99 cent app. I just don't like how Pageonce is going about this "Premium Upgrade". I just wanted buyers to be aware before they upgraded and found that it is not a one time .99 cent upgrade but .99 cents a month.

What it boils down to is Pageonce wants to charge you .99 cents a month for "No ads" and to let you enter bills manually.

I appreciate your voice, and the direct feedback.
I would like to clarify some of the comments above. We are investing a lot of effort and money to build a great service, but we needs to earn in order to sustain ourselves, we can not deliver such a service without getting monetary returns. As you all know, we keep your information up to date on a daily basis, we send push notification when bills are due, we keep history for reference and much more. All of this functionality is running on our servers month over month for as long as you use the application. A one time fee is not a model that can work for us. As an example, can your internet service provider or cable TV provider charge you a one time fee for its service? It simply can not work, as they deliver a monthly service that you use for many years.
At Pageonce we can either earn from ads that is running as long a you use the app or from a monthly subscription.
With regards to Pageonce Bills 1.1 - we couldn't add ads to 1.0 since we didn't have a way for you to choose between ads or premium service. With 1.1 we give the option to disable ads and pay subscription. Even more, for the premium service, we added more functionality.
As to the 'In App Top Purchase' in the App Store. We do not control or have the ability to change the text on this form and have to use Apple predefined text. To resolve this, in the app, when you are asked to pay for the premium service, we write that the service is a subscription. You will have to approve the payment once a month.
One last note, I want to clarify that the upgrade is free, there is no upfront payment to get the upgrade and all the features available in 1.0 are still free in 1.1

If a "one time fee is not a model that can work for you" then how do you make it work for you Personal Finance app? It has a one time fee of $6.99 and does a whole lot more than the Pageonce Bills app. If I'm not mistaken, it uses the same info that the Personal Finance app uses. I watched a co-worker install Pageonce Bills and it used the same info that he already had attached to the Personal Finance app on his iPhone, he didn't have to enter anything into the Bills app. Are they using the same servers?

I would hate to think if I were to purchase your Personal Finance app for $6.99 and then you decided that this one time fee ($6.99) is not a model that can work for you. Would you then want to start charging me a monthly fee to maintain my information? How is Mint able to do basically the same things as your Personal Finance app without a monthly fee? I have Mint on my iPhone with no ads and the ads on the website are minimal.

Just curious as I was just about to switch to Pageonce Personal Finance to compliment the Pageonce Bills app.

One last thing I would like to add. I find it almost funny that either Apple or Pageonce has decided not to publish my honest review of the app in the App Store. No profanity, no smearing or lies just the honest truth about this app and the deceptive marketing behind it.

I hope eventually the people will see the truth for themselves.
