If I want to create and edit documents while sharing between my iPhone (iOS 5) and iMac (Lion) using iCloud, do I need to purchase to different versions of pages?

Pages for my iMac ($20) and pages for my iPhone ($10)?

If yes, is this the easiest way to achieve the functionality that I am talking about?

Yes you need to buy Pages for osx and iOS. iCloud will sort of support the doc sharing with the issue being Pages for osx is not integrated to iCloud yet like the iOS version is. So you need to manually open and save to/from iCloud with in osx for now.

I may be mistaken, but I don't believe this is available yet. I think then next version of iWork gets released it will be possible, but for now there are work arounds. Check this out.
